Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of anabolic steroids on kidneys in bodybuilders. Six healthy male subjects (aged 23±8 years, height 179±5 cm, body mass 74.9±4.3 kg, body fat 10.5±2.8%) completed the study protocol in a double-blinded, parallel design. Methods: Seven subjects ingested one of three capsules containing 0.65 mg and 0.12 mg (anabolic steroids).
